Evolution Korea
Until recently the Korean scientific community avoided engaging with the creationists, fearing that it could increase the credibility of the movement. But silence is no any longer an option.
The STR has been campaigning to get rid of textbooks that discuss evolution, including the discovery of the feathered dinosaur Archaeopteryx as an ancestral bird's ancestor. This is only one aspect of the development paradigm's evolution.
What is Evolution?
Evolution is a concept in science that explains the evolution of genetic characteristics over time. The theory is based on fact that living things adapt to their environment, which can cause variations in genes, or even entire genomes. These changes can, over generations result in the development of new species. The predominant theory of evolution is called natural selection, which describes the process by which people with advantages survive and reproduce more often than those with less favorable characteristics. This differing reproduction may, over time, lead to the creation and evolution of new species.
The word "evolution", which comes from the Latin for unrolling or revealing has been used in many different ways as the concept has changed, both in science as well as elsewhere. Early evolutionists like Erasmus Darwin (Charles’s grandfather) and Jean Baptiste de Lamarck believed that species were predestined to evolve into a different species. Etienne Geoffroy St-Hilaire was Lamarck's embryologist pupil who came up with the term "transmutation" to describe this theory. Charles Lyell, who published the second volume of his Principles of Geology in 1833, attacked this idea and borrowed the term "evolution" from Geoffroy's student to describe the view that existing species change into other species in an orderly and predictable manner.
Evolutionary biologists define it more recently as a process in which living organisms develop traits to improve their chances of survival or producing offspring. As time passes, genetic variation can lead a population to acquire new physical traits or biological functions. This shift in gene frequency is called natural selection, and is the primary driver behind evolutionary changes. However, non-genetic changes such as the increase in the muscle mass as a result of diet or exercise cannot be considered to be examples of evolution because they are not inherited by future generations.
Despite the fact that evolution has stood the tests of time and thousands of scientific experiments Creationists have taken advantage of the notion that the theory is controversial and argue that it shouldn't be taught in schools. In South Korea, creationists have gained a few victories in their campaign to exclude evolution from textbooks for high school and have also gotten rid of references to the evolutionary history of humans as well as the Archaeopteryx, a feathered dinosaur thought to be the ancestral bird's ancestor.

It is crucial for science educators to advocate for the teaching of evolution. In certain countries, the opposition to evolution has been growing. In the United States some states have taken steps to limit teaching evolution. In South Korea, a group known as the Society for Textbook Revise, an offshoot from the Korea Association for Creation Research (KAC) is a campaign for textbooks to include content on the evolution of horses and their Avian ancestor Archaeopteryx.

Although these are alarming developments, it is important to remember that the evidence for evolution is overwhelming. The evidence for evolution comes from many sources, such as fossils, genetics and the behavior of living creatures. Other scientists independently verify the evidence.
The vast majority of scientists agree with the theory of evolution. The reasons behind this belief are diverse. Certain scientists study evolution to make practical discoveries such as developing new medicines, while others do so to improve animal and plants species, usually for the benefit of humans. Some scientists are simply curious, while others hold a an intense belief in God.
What is Creationism?
Creationists are people who believe that God created the universe and everything within it. They also believe that the Bible is God's word and should be interpreted in a literal manner. Although some creationists are not Christian however, many are. Creationists are usually divided into two categories: Young Earth Creationists (YEC) or old earth creationists.
The most common type of creationist is known as the YEC. They believe that God created the universe in the exact way that is described in the Bible. YECs believe that the biblical account of the six days of creation is literal, and that the universe and the life on Earth began only recently.
OECs are less well known, but they are as passionate about their beliefs as YECs. OECs believe that the universe and life on Earth are billions of years old and that evolution is an untruth.
Both forms of creationism deny that scientific theories such as natural selection and abiogenesis can explain the origin of life on Earth. They claim that evolution is not possible because it would require an extraordinary event, and that the founders of modern science rejected miracles out of fear of losing credibility.
Some creationists accept both naturalistic evolution and special creation, and refer to their belief "theistic evolution." This is sometimes also known as "continuous creationism" or "evolution from created kinds." The theory suggests that God creates original species and then allows these to evolve over time. These evolutionary changes will eventually produce new species that are similar to the original.
Some creationists believe that God created all living things and the entire universe in one event known as the Great Flood. These creationists hold that all the original species were created at the same time and then gradually evolved. They reject the concept of abiogenesis and assert that self-replicating life cannot arise from nonliving matter.
In general, creationists are against teaching evolution in schools. This position is supported by a variety of professional organizations, including the National Science Teachers Association, the Association for Science Teacher Education as well as the American Anthropological Association, and the Geological Society of America. Some academic institutions and scientists are, however, more flexible and allow evolution and creationism to be included in their curriculum.
What is Creationism?
When people think of creationism, they often think of the United States. South Korea also has an anti-evolutionist group. The publishers of high-school textbooks recently announced that they will remove references to evolution in their textbooks. The Society for Textbook Revise, an independent body which is an offshoot from the Korea Association for Creation Research (KACCR), has led this campaign. The STR has achieved its first victory by removing from textbooks the evidence of the evolution and ancestor of the avian, called the Archeopteryx. The next goal is to take out the finch-research of Darwin's famed as well as on human evolution.
STR claims to have the support of 4000 families and individuals. Its goal is to weed out what it sees as the "atheist materialism" that reflects a hopeless worldview for students. It also hopes to combat the influence of American creationists who live in the US. 에볼루션 바카라 of students in biology revealed that half of them did not believe evolution. The reasons for this aren't entirely certain, but could be related to religious beliefs or the absence of creation scientists in the United States.
The KACR accomplished a number of things through its lectures and seminars in the past. It publishes a bimonthly magazine, Creation, and has published books. The most notable of these is a text on the natural sciences, with a creationist viewpoint, which sparked interest in college communities. In 1991, a professor and minister began teaching Creation Science in one university and it continues to be taught to this day.
On August 6-7, 1993, coinciding with the World Expo opened in Daejeon, KACR held a second International Symposium on Creation Research. Six lecturers from the world, including ICR's John Morris, Duane Gish, and Steven Austin spoke to audiences of several thousand. KACR members and KACR have also presented lectures on the subject of creation science at major seminaries. KACR plans to create a Creation Science Education Center in the future.
